Privacy

What happens to your data when you visit this site.

Who is responsible

Lennert van de Kreeke, Berlin. You can reach me by email at lennert@lennertvandekreeke.com or through the contact form.

In short

This site sets no cookies and embeds nothing from third parties. Fonts and images come from this server. Data is processed for hosting, a simple visitor counter and, if you use it, the contact form.

Visitor counter

To see which pages get read, I use GoatCounter (goatcounter.com). When you open a page, your browser loads a small script from gc.zgo.at and reports the page, the referring page, your browser, operating system, screen size and approximate country. GoatCounter sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses and builds no profiles; individual visitors can’t be recognised.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is understanding how the site is used. See the GoatCounter privacy policy.

Hosting

The site is served by GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you visit, GitHub processes technically necessary data such as your IP address, the date and time, the page requested and your browser, to deliver the page and keep the service secure.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is a secure, working website. Transfers to the US rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. See the GitHub privacy statement.

Contact form

If you use the form, your name, email address and message are passed on to me through Formspree (Formspree, Inc., USA). Formspree also processes technical data such as your IP address to filter spam.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your message is about possibly working together, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (my interest in answering messages). The data is processed in the US; Formspree uses the EU standard contractual clauses for this. I delete messages once they are dealt with and nothing requires me to keep them. See the Formspree privacy policy.

Stored on your device

If you switch between the light and dark theme, your browser remembers that choice in its local storage (localStorage). It stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.

Links

Links to other sites, such as Instagram, LinkedIn or YouTube, only open when you click them. From then on, that provider’s privacy policy applies.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict its processing, to data portability, and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Just write to me.

You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
